Finite element analyses of buckling behavior in x60 steel pipelines under axial compression load
This study comprehensively investigated the buckling resistance of an X60 steel pipe subjected to axial compressive loading using advanced finite element analysis. A detailed and sophisticated three-dimensional numerical model was meticulously developed to analyze how various crucial parameters affect the buckling behavior of the pipeline under different conditions. The key parameters examined included the pipeline's geometry, specifically its outer diameter and wall thickness, internal pressure, and the mechanical properties of the steel, such as yield strength and tensile strength. The findings revealed that the critical buckling load is highly sensitive to changes in the pipe’s outer diameter, wall thickness, internal pressure, and yield stress, as well as other mechanical properties. A comprehensive comparison between the finite element analysis results and those derived from an analytical model shows a good correlation for the outer diameter and wall thickness, but a substantial discrepancy is observed in the case of yield strength, highlighting areas for further research.
