Stochastic scheduling of distribution power networks counting advanced adiabatic compressed air energy storage
Abstract Advanced adiabatic compressed air energy storage (AA-CAES) has the advantages of environmental protection, low cost, and high efficiency, which is the mainstream development trend of compressed air energy storage (CAES). The feasibility and economy of distribution network scheduling strategies are affected by the volatility of new energy output and the different operation modes of AA-CAES. This study employs a stochastic planning method to model the uncertain outputs of new energy sources and incorporates the AA-CAES system into the stochastic scheduling model. The objective is to explore the impact of different operating modes of AA-CAES on the scheduling outcomes. The analysis demonstrates that operating the expansion side of AA-CAES under a fixed-pressure mode enhances the economic efficiency of the distribution network compared to a variable-pressure mode. Additionally, the fixed pressure mode offers superior regulation and output capabilities.
