ADVERSIDADES DA OBESIDADE: RECIDIVA DE COMORBIDADES APÓS EMAGRECIMENTO E CONTROLE DO PACIENTE

Obesity is a complex phenomenon, the result of a complex interaction between genetic, behavioral, social, economic and environmental factors. With ever-rising prevalence rates, obesity poses a threat to individual health as it also imposes a substantial burden on healthcare systems and the economy through increased medical costs and reduced productivity. The objective, therefore, was to investigate the challenges of obesity and the recurrence of comorbidities after weight loss. Methodologically, an exploratory and comparative bibliographic review based on qualitative research was applied. It was concluded that the obstacles to obesity go beyond simple weight loss, encompassing the recurrence of comorbidities after weight loss and continuous patient control. The research highlighted the complexity of these challenges and highlighted the need for multidisciplinary approaches to address them effectively. From preventing the recurrence of comorbidities to promoting healthy lifestyles, the integration of professionals from different areas of health, such as doctors, nutritionists, psychologists and physical educators, is a fundamental strategy. This collaborative approach aims to establish personalized and integrated care, aimed at both weight loss and improving the general health and quality of life of obese patients.
