AVALIAÇÃO RETROSPECTIVA DA RECIDIVA DE COR E REABSORÇÃO RADICULAR EXTERNA EM DENTES ENDODONTICAMENTE TRATADOS SUBMETIDOS A CLAREAMENTO INTERNO
A retrospective evaluation of color rebound and external root resorption in previous endodontically treated teeth subjected to internal bleaching. The aim of this study was a retrospective clinical and radiographic evaluation of the color rebound and the presence of external root resorption in previous endodontically treated teeth subjected to internal bleaching. The study included 34 adult patients of both sexes, who received internal bleaching therapy with evaluation time over 06 months. All patients were evaluated clinically and radiographically by a calibrated examiner (Kappa 1) and blind to the study objectives. Subjective dental color analysis was performed by using a shade guide. A questionnaire on patient satisfaction was also applied. Radiographic evaluation for cervical external root resorption detection was performed using a standardized periapical technique. Data were tabulated, and the results represented descriptively as percentages. 46 teeth were evaluated in 34 patients, 27 female and 7 male, aged between 22 and 66 years-old, with a mean time after treatment of 4.3 years. The presence of external resorption was found in 4.3% of cases (2 teeth). There was color rebound in 23.9% of the analyzed teeth. In 34.8% of cases, the patients were very satisfied, 21.7% were satisfied, 17.4% were somewhat satisfied and 26.1% were dissatisfied about the treatment. It is concluded that non-vital teeth subjected to internal bleaching showed 23,9% of color rebound, out of the 58.7% of global failure. The majority of the patients expressed satisfaction with treatment. External root resorption was a rare outcome.
