Dichloridotetrakis(3-methoxyaniline)nickel(II)
The reaction of nickel(II) chloride with 3-meth-oxy-aniline yielded di-chlorido-tetra-kis-(3-meth-oxy-aniline)nickel(II), [NiCl2(C7H9NO)4], as yellow crystals. The NiII ion is pseudo-octa-hedral with the chloride ions <i>trans</i> to each other. The four 3-meth-oxy-aniline ligands differ primarily due to different conformations about the Ni-N bond, which also affect the hydrogen bonding. Inter-molecular N-H⋯ Cl hydrogen bonds and short Cl⋯Cl contacts between mol-ecules link them into chains parallel to the <i>b</i> axis.
