Clarificaton on the similarity of the floating Bentall technique with our previously defined existing technique known as the flange technique
We read with great interest the recent article by Issa and colleagues 1 describing the floating Bentall technique for aortic root enlargement, which is actually a replacement procedure of the aortic root. 1 Although we commend the authors for their work in addressing the significant issue of prosthesis-patient mismatch in patients with a small aortic annulus, we wish to highlight that the technique they describe closely mirrors our modified Bentall procedure (known as the flanged technique), which was first introduced by Yakut in 2001.
