Strong‐Yet‐Ductile Eutectic Alloys Employing Cocoon‐Like Nanometer‐Sized Dislocation Cells (Adv. Mater. 33/2024)

Cocoon-Like Nano-Meshed Network of Dislocation Strong-yet-ductile alloys require effective microstructural mechanisms for regulating dislocation evolution, to constantly impart strengthening and strain-hardening while suppressing damage during deformation. All these have been achieved simultaneously in Yunbo Zhong, Evan Ma, and co-workers' work, by invoking a novel cocoon-like nano-meshed structure, an unusual arrangement of accumulated dislocations anchored by dense pre-existing nanoprecipitates into nanometer-scale thin-walled cells, thereby creating state-of-the-art eutectic alloys. More details can be found in article number 2405459.
