Nonequivalent Atomic Vibrations at Interfaces in a Polar Superlattice (Adv. Mater. 33/2024)
Nonequivalent Atomic Vibrations In article number 2402925, Eric R. Hoglund, Sokrates T. Pantelides, Patrick E. Hopkins, Jordan A. Hachtel, and co-workers describe how the choices made in the experimental setup make a difference in what atomic vibrations are probed at the material heterostructure's interfaces. They illustrate this along the theme of “roads not taken” by an atomic scale resolution image splitting into two paths, with the two interfaces diverging into a light and dark path.
