3D Printing of Composite Radiation Shielding for Broad Spectrum Protection of Electronic Systems (Adv. Mater. 33/2024)
3D Printing of Composite Radiation Shielding Exposure to radiation disrupts the operation of electronic systems. In article number 2403822, Bradley Duncan and co-workers describe an additive manufacturing approach to augment commercial electronics with radiation resiliency. The direct ink writing-based process conformally deposits multimaterial composite shielding onto only the vulnerable components of electronic assemblies providing a significant size, weight, power, and cost advantage over traditional shielding methods.
