Very low lipoprotein(a) levels are associated with higher risks of new-onset diabetes
Conclusions: This study represents the first known research on Lp(a) measurement in Colombia.Findings indicate a lack of national standardization in Lp(a) measurement, failing to meet the conditions set by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCCLM).Understanding trends in Lp(a) and its impact on clinical care is crucial for developing strategies to manage residual risk and treatment once available. The upcoming national dyslipidemia consensus presents a valuable opportunity to recommend standardization in Lp(a) measurement.
