The “scenario” as a key educational tool in the simulation centre
Using simulations is considered an effective tool in training and instructional processes. At the core of the process is the 'scenario'. The objective of the current research was to shed light on the elements that affect the development of the scenario topic and all that relate to its operation during a simulation. With a mixed method based on grounded theory, we analysed the characteristics of 74 simulation workshops and 150 scenarios between the years 2019–2020 carried out in our college's simulation centre. Findings point to a need to construct clear criteria and rules for preparing scenarios for simulation training. Issues such as the active simulation participants' selection process, the scenario writer's identity, the time of exposure to the scenario before arriving at the simulation centre, and how the scenario is mediated may also contribute to the simulation's effectiveness.
