IDDF2024-ABS-0080 Comprehensive analysis of the expression and prognostic value tmem108 in pancreatic adenocarcinoma

Background
Previous research has indicated that the transmembrane protein 108 (TMEM 108), a protein spanning the cellular membrane, may have various functions in biological processes. However, its specific involvement in the pathogenesis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) has yet to be investigated. This study was performed to explore TMEM 108 in PAAD and further analyzed the relationship between TMEM 108 and the clinical characteristics of PAAD patients and the relationship between TMEM 108 in PAAD and the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) of PAAD.
Methods
Some databases, including the University of California Santa Cruz Xena (UCSC Xena) database and Kaplan-Meier Plotter, were adopted to explore the expression pattern of TMEM 108 in PAAD, which was confirmed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UALCAN) dataset was adopted to investigate the associations between TMEM 108 and prognosis in PAAD.
Results
TMEM 108 is significantly associated with the prognosis and staging of PAAD. Reduced expression of TMEM 108 was detected in pancreatic carcinoma tissues compared to the normal tissue, which was confirmed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Additionally, higher expression of TMEM 108 was connected to better outcomes of pancreatic carcinoma (IDDF2024-ABS-0080-Figure 1. Overall survival of TMEM 108 in PAAD using the Kaplan- Meier plotter database). Moreover, infiltrating immune cell markers presented different TMEM 108-associated immune infiltration patterns (IDDF2024-ABS-0080-Figure 2. Relation between four kinds of conditions and expression of TMEM 108 in Pancancer using the TISIDB data).
Conclusions
The results from our study indicate that TMEM 108 was positively related to the prognosis and immunological status of pancreatic carcinoma. TMEM 108 could be a potential biomarker for prognosis and a guardian for normal tissue.
