ANALISIS MISKONSEPSI SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH PADA TELAAH SOAL SERTA PENGERJAANNYA

Students' misconceptions pose a significant challenge to secondary school learning. Misconceptions are an inaccurate understanding of a scientific concept. Various factors often contribute to this phenomenon, such as the teacher's delivery of the material, the use of learning resources, and students' initial understanding, shaped by everyday experiences that may not align with scientific concepts. The type of research is qualitative research. This research involved seven junior high school students from class VIII. We used written tests and interviews as data collection techniques. The instrument used in this research was the students' misconception test questions. The data collected in this research is student misconception data obtained when students work on questions. The research utilizes mathematical questions related to number patterns as its tools. The analysis of student misconceptions focuses on examining the students' comprehension of the questions and the outcomes of their assignments. The results of the research show that there are misconceptions that occur among students regarding the fifth pattern image. These misconceptions include classificational misconceptions, then there are misconceptions regarding completing tables on apple trees and durian trees. These misconceptions include correlational misconceptions, as well as misconceptions regarding how to complete tables on apple trees and durian trees. One type of correlational and theoretical misconception is the belief that the number of apple trees equals the number of durian trees based on the value of n. Misconceptions among students about trees tend to increase as the number of apple trees and durian trees increases. These misconceptions encompass both theoretical and correlational aspects. The causes of misconceptions that occur in students can come from teachers and from students themselves.
