Problematic of Plastic waste management in Togo : difficulties and solution approaches

The objective of this study is to contribute to the sustainable management of plastic waste in Togo.It is a question of identifying the difficulties related to the management of plastic waste and proposing approaches of solutions.Indeed, the development of the plastics industry in the 20 th century led to an excessive production of plastic objects.Mismanagement, lack of informations on the negative effects and irresponsible use of these plastics lead to their release into nature.Plastic pollutes not only our roads, our forests, but also our oceans. In Togo, the evolution of lifestyles and consumption is not followed by laws and texts capable of regulating the habits of the population.Out of ignorance, a large segment of the population indulges in behaviors that harm the environment and their health.A better plastic waste management system is a promising niche for development and it is essential to put in place strategic plans to mitigate the damage linked to the poor management of this waste. In terms of plastic waste recovery, it is essential to build capacity in the existing plastic waste processing methods and technologies, such as recycling and processing to produce other objects.
