MIXOMA CARDÍACO E ASSOCIAÇÃO COM AUTOIMUNIDADE: UM RELATO DE CASO
Primary cardiac neoplasms are rare entities, with myxomas being the most common. The most common location is in the left atrium, and recurrences may occur, especially if the patient has a positive family history. Constitutional symptoms may be present in 34% of patients, which may suggest the presence of other overlapping entities, such as autoimmune diseases. The autoreactive mechanisms against the heart are still poorly understood. However, some data show that antibodies can play roles in the genesis of intracardiac tumors, especially myxomas, such as anti-endothelial antibodies. This work reports the case of a 35-year-old patient with lupus with cutaneous-mucosal manifestation, with the finding of a growing atrial myxoma. The patient presents a positive family history of atrial myxoma, with maternal death due to intraoperative tumor instability.
