Moessbauer Effect on Tin Bonding [Dissertation]
The series of studies in this work were completed during a two and one half year period while the author was a technical collaborator at Brookhaven National Laboratory. As a result of these studies, a semi-quantitative theory which enables one to predict the magnitude of the quadrupole splitting parameter in tin compounds was advanced. Also, as a result of both lattice dynamic and external magnetic field studies, it became possible to determine the origin of the electric field gradient in certain tin molecules. Lastly, a standard for Moessbauer effect measurements was proposed to, and accepted by, the National Bureau of Standards.
