Mesoscale Investigation of Dislocation-Grain Boundary Interactions in Metals and Alloys
The current database includes <110> and <112> symmetric tilt boundaries for one dislocation interaction position per structure and three values of applied pure shear stresses -250, 500, and 750 MPa (2000+ data points and growing) 150 nm for <112> tilts, 100 nm for <110> tilts 120 nm for <112> tilts, 50 nm for <110> tilts Grain Boundary -Dislocation Interactions 9/18/2024 | 9 Los Alamos National Laboratory Different grain boundarydislocation reactions were observed depending on the grain boundary -Pinning, Absorption, Partial/Full Dislocation Transmission -Examples shown for Cu <112> symmetric tilt boundary with edge dislocation impingement. All reactions are taken at the duration of the simulation, ~500ps.
