Planning Modernity: The Company Town in Modern Iran
This thesis will examine the emergence of modern company towns in Iran. In this research, it will be discussed that during the last three decades of the Pahlavi Monarchy, the relations between the government of Iran and the three superpowers of Britain, USSR and United States fluctuated as the consequence of continued upheaval of policies, resulting in the creation of these different company towns. This tripartite research structure produces a set of comparative studies through which one historical and geographical arena offers critical hindsight into three very different ideological paradigms of design thinking and practice of the twentieth century worldwide.
