Measurement of electrical resistivity of frozen soils
This paper presents the electrical resistivity measurements of three types of soils such as clay, sandy soil and sand at various temperatures between -10 and 10 0C. The experimental results showed that the electrical resistivity increased with decreasing temperature and it changed greatly just below 0°C. The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity was compared with the unfrozen water content change in the frozen condition. An empirical relationship between the electrical resistivity and the degree of water saturation is proposed. The experimental results corresponded well with the calculated electrical resistivities.
