True triaxial tests of prismatic large scale samples of jointed rock masses in laboratory
A sampling and testing procedure for large prismatic specimen of pervasively jointed rock masses having dimensions of 62 x 62 x 120 cm is described. In order to simulate the boundary conditions of the planed cavern the loading of the specimen was true triaxial. The sampling technique is a new development based on cutting with a diamond saw which limits the disturbance to a minimum extent. The true triaxial loading is done in a testing apparatus having a load capacity of σ1/σ2/σ3 = 15/6/2 MPa.
