Laboratory observation of seismic waves in heterogeneous geomaterials

Two-phase particle composite samples modeling heterogeneous geomaterials with various inclusion size and content were made to investigate the effects of particle size and content on the amplitudes and velocities of seismic waves. The results of the tests suggest that seismic attenuation can be used to infer the internal structure of heterogeneous rocks.

Abstract

Two-phase particle composite samples modeling heterogeneous geomaterials with various inclusion size and content were made to investigate the effects of particle size and content on the amplitudes and velocities of seismic waves. The results of the tests suggest that seismic attenuation can be used to infer the internal structure of heterogeneous rocks.
