Consideration on the seismic motion and the design seismic coefficient of large cut slope under the strong earthquake

This report describes the analytical study of the relationship between the seismic motion used to evaluate stability of slopes in the vicinity of Japanese nuclear power plants and the static seismic coefficient, as well as the difference in the stability of slopes under static and dynamic seismic forces. Also, based on actual earthquake data, the applicability of proposed formulae for underground seismic coefficient distribution, was studied.

Abstract

This report describes the analytical study of the relationship between the seismic motion used to evaluate stability of slopes in the vicinity of Japanese nuclear power plants and the static seismic coefficient, as well as the difference in the stability of slopes under static and dynamic seismic forces. Also, based on actual earthquake data, the applicability of proposed formulae for underground seismic coefficient distribution, was studied.
