Latur Earthquake—Osmanabad Area, A Perspective Analysis from Remote Sensing

In the early hours of 30 September 1993, an earthquake occurred in the Marathawada region of Maharashtra and the adjoining areas of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh states of India, causing widespread damage to life and property in the villages of Latur and Osmanabad districts of Maharashtra. The intensity of earthquake was maximum in the area around Killari village on the bank of the Tirna, a small tributary at the Manjra river to the east. The earthquake was of magnitude 6.3 in the Richter scale with epicentre around Killari village and was identified as a shallow-focus earthquake of 10–12 km (?) depth of focus.
