Hans Martin Sutermeister: Twelve Tape Recordings (ca. 1960)

This collection presents twelve digitized tape recordings by Hans Martin Sutermeister (1907–1977), a Swiss physician and music theorist. Recorded around 1960 at his residence on Hilty-Strasse 26 in Bern, the original open-reel tapes are preserved in the holdings of the Burgerbibliothek Bern. The recordings include theoretical piano performances and Sutermeister’s own composition Kleiner Walzer, as well as reflections on topics such as Josef Matthias Hauer’s tone-color theory. Digitization ensures the long-term preservation and scholarly accessibility of this material for musicological and biographical research.
