Dispersion of vapour in a layered unsaturated zone

We present a derivation of the macroscopic equations by the homogenization method for chemical vapour transport in an unsaturated zone with a periodic structure of heterogeneity. The effective specific discharge and hydrodynamic dispersion coefficient are expressible in terms of some cell functions, whose analytical solutions are sought for the simple case of a bi-layered composite.

Abstract

We present a derivation of the macroscopic equations by the homogenization method for chemical vapour transport in an unsaturated zone with a periodic structure of heterogeneity. The effective specific discharge and hydrodynamic dispersion coefficient are expressible in terms of some cell functions, whose analytical solutions are sought for the simple case of a bi-layered composite.
