Recent advances in finite strip method
A review is presented of the literature on recent advances in finite strip developments and applications for various structural problems. Research in the last decade was focused at extending the applicability of the method. There are hundreds of papers and reports presenting new achievements in this area. One of the most important developments is the so-called spline finite strip (SPFS) method which can solve the difficulties encountered in applying the semi-analytical final strip (SAFS) method to problems such as irregular plates, concentrated forces and intermediate supports. Meanwhile, the SAFS method has also been extended to nonlinear problems, postbuckling problems, interaction problems and infinite domain problems. A review of the literature published in the last decade on this subject is offered.
