Engineering geological studies for the individuation of extractive basins in anthropized areas
The paper illustrates the methodology used in a wide study carried out on an hilly territory in the South-West of Piedmont (Northern Italy), study aiming to individuate the possibility to open large extractive basins in an highly anthropized country. This in order to permit a minimum environmental impact and a correct territorial planning, with a concentration of quarry activity in limited areas. All the data collected by in situ surveys and laboratory tests were synthetized in two thematic maps, showing in the first the potential interest of recovered deposits, in the second the constraints to exploitation posed by natural and human factors. The zoning criteria adopted were studied in order to permit an easy automatic elaboration of a third map, in which the real value of deposits is synthetized.
